Understanding Combustion Mechanism of Magnesium for Better Safety Measures: An Experimental Study

With the growth of magnesium recycling market, risk fire and explosion has been raised over time. In particular, dross generated in process is not considered as a hazardous material even though it contains lot pure and/or compounds. There are few safety measures to prevent respond potential fires explosions protect employees. Therefore, this study aims identify appropriate reduce by looking at two actual cases relevant criteria South Korea, US, Japan. Also, combustion experiment using powder was conducted significant phenomena magnesium. Lastly, we developed mechanism magnesium, including chemical reaction, smoldering, ignition. Each phase presents five contents for different visibility velocity identification methods, response measure, possible responders.
